Sharon Al-Uqdah & Rob Cowan, 2006 CFC Co-Chairs

WOW, what a year!  We had the extraordinary pleasure to serve as Co-Chairs of the 2006 Heartland Combined Federal Campaign.  As you all know, lately, the Heartland CFC has a habit of raising the bar each year.  After the record-breaking performance in 2005, we knew we had our work cut out for us.

We were fortunate to have tremendous support from our 2006 Heartland CFC Campaign Cabinet and met some of the finest campaign coordinators that we could ever imagine throughout the year.  Despite the five-star CFC team, none of us imagined that we would come close to even matching last year’s results.  During our goal-setting meetings, we realistically planned to raise just $2.9 million.  Due to a number of factors, including a decrease in the Federal employee population, most agencies were reluctant to commit to achieving last year’s results.

The early campaign results seemed to prove that our forecasts would become reality.  With 3 weeks left in the campaign, we had raised just 30% of our $2.9 million goal.  Given that situation, the CFC Committee extended the campaign by a couple of weeks and called our Federal partners into action.  AND BOY DID YOU ACT!  At the end of the day, thanks to you, the 2006 CFC Heartland Campaign raised $3,049,000.

When it all comes down to it, the only numbers which really matter are the hundreds or thousands of people who will benefit from your kindness.  There were many reasons to give – but the most important reason of all is because you are changing someone’s life.  Thank you for your unending generosity and your continued support of the Heartland CFC.
