Curtis Walker and Gary Beets, 2009 CFC
Co-Chairs
If we had to describe the 2009 Combined
Federal Campaign in one word it would be “awesome”! By raising
$4,069,069
the campaign went from an initial theme of
“ICan…” to one of “WeDid”!
This represents the first time for the Heartland Federal Region to surpass
the $4 million dollar mark! What makes this new level of contributing
impressive is the fact that it was done in a period of economic slowdown.
The success enjoyed by the Heartland CFC ran contrary to most charitable
campaigns conducted in 2009.
The formula for turning what could have
been a down year in to the success it was, stems from two sources. First,
was the giving and caring attitude of the Federal community—both civilian
and military. In spite of economic uncertainty, you understood the
importance of helping people in need and stepped up to make our respective
communities better places to live and work. Secondly, second was the
special efforts put forth by Agency Heads, the CFC cabinet members, loaned
executives, agency campaign coordinators, special committees, union leaders,
and everyone that may have made a contact on behalf of the CFC that helped
to get the word out and raise needed funds for our community. The
individual and collective efforts of these individuals served as the
proverbial “heartbeat” of the campaign—pumping the life and energy needed to
nurture an extremely successful campaign.
As we close out the 2009 campaign, we look back with pride
and appreciation of what has been accomplished and we Thank You so very
much!
